Chicago, IL — September 3, 2025 — Additional Ventures and the Consortium for Technology & Innovation in Pediatrics (CTIP) announced today the launch of a new partnership to support the development of transformative medical devices for patients with single ventricle heart disease. Through this initiative, early-stage academic and industry innovators will receive funding, commercialization support, and access to a robust network of clinical, technical, and industry expertise.
The Device Innovation Award will provide up to $1 million in funding per project to advance critical milestones across the medical device development lifecycle. Awardees will also gain hands-on guidance from CTIP’s national ecosystem of clinicians, engineers, regulators, and business leaders, paired with Additional Ventures’ scientific and clinical networks. Together, the partnership aims to accelerate solutions that address the unique challenges and unmet needs faced by children and adults living with single ventricle heart disease.
“This partnership brings together Additional Ventures’ deep commitment to advancing research and care for single ventricle patients with CTIP’s proven expertise in supporting early-stage medical device innovation,” said Juan Espinoza, Executive Director, CTIP. “By combining funding with strategic support, we are creating a pathway to bring new technologies to patients faster.”
Kirstie Keller, CEO, Additional Ventures added, “Single ventricle heart disease presents some of the most complex challenges in medicine, demanding bold ideas and cross-disciplinary collaboration. This program gives innovators the resources and expertise to transform breakthrough concepts into solutions that directly improve patients’ lives.”
“We are looking forward to operationalizing this partnership and unifying the core strengths of both organizations for the benefit of the broader community,” shared Bianca Riello, Managing Director, CTIP. Applications for the Device Innovation Award open today, September 3, 2025. Projects selected will represent high-potential technologies with the capacity to improve outcomes and quality of life for single ventricle patients across their lifespan.
